Because of their marvelous concept, that makes fans theorize about every single thing, Big Hit even created BTS Universe to expand their story! The BTS Universe or Bangtan Universe (BU) is a media franchise and shared universe based on a series of music videos created individually by Big Hit Entertainment and inspired by BTS members. The franchise has been extended to include short movies, short stories, books, and webtoons. Wow, this is the power of BTS! What we’re going to discuss in this article is about BTS’s Wings era, that first began on October 10th, 2016. BTS’ Wings Logo
Wings is BTS’s second studio album. Big Hit Entertainment published the album on October 10, 2016. It comes in four versions and includes 15 tracks, with “Blood Sweat & Tears” as its lead single. Highly affected by Demian, the coming of age novel by Hermann Hesse, the concept album deals with temptation and growth thematically. #1 Jungkook – Begin
Begin is the first solo song and the third track in the Wings and You Never Walk Alone albums, and is performed by Jungkook. The short film released on September 4, 2016.
#2 Jimin – Lie
Lie is Jimin’s solo song and the fourth track in the Wings and You Never Walk Alone albums. The short film released on September 5th, 2015.
#3 V – Stigma
Stigma is V’s solo song and the fifth track in the album. The short film released on September 6th, 2016.
#4 Suga – First Love
First Love is Suga’s solo song and the sixth track on the Wings album. The short film released on September 7th, 2016.
#5 RM – Reflection
Reflection is RM’s solo song and the seventh track on the Wings album. The short film released on September 8th, 2016.
#6 J-Hope – MAMA
MAMA is J-Hope’s solo song and the eighth title track on the Wings album. The short film released on September 9th, 2016.
#7 Awake
Awake is Jin’s solo song and the ninth track on the Wings album. The short film released on September 10th, 2016, and also marks the end of the Wings short films.
All of the short films were, in many ways, related to Hermann Hesse’s Demian. Fans particularly liked how their beloved leader, Namjoon, narrated each one. Another thing that occurred during the short films was that there were circles at the end, and each one represented a member that quickly ended up joining another member together. Jungkook and Namjoon collided for those logos. Suga and Jimin combined. V and J-Hope also combined. And, lastly, Jin had his own logo for himself, which fans believe he deserves because he is underrated. Many fans theorize about the meaning of the members’ logos and why the logos combine. While Big Hit and BTS, themselves, never gave any statements to answer fans’ questions about it, you may still want to check fan theories about the Wings logo to give you more insight into this era.
Fan Theories About the Logo
One of the popular theories about the Wings logos in the fandom is from scarletfoxx in aminoapps. At first, they believed that mixing circles meant nothing, and that Big Hit was just attempting to throw away ideas by doing that, meaning the circles had nothing to do with the plot, at all. They came to that conclusion because there are pairings in the sequence and those pairings weren’t the circles that joined together. Sure, the bath in Lie appeared in First Love, which could mean something, but for a short time, the burning piano in Begin appeared in Lie. By this, they imply that the brief period when these videos appear is like foreshadowing the next films. In First Love, the burning piano in Begin and Lie went up again, but for longer and was more meaningful. The Stigma phone booth emerged in Reflection, and made more sense so that the bathroom could foreshadow future films that had to do with it. Now, they believe that’s more meaningful about why the circles combine. The circles of Jungkook and Rap Monster merge. It may be confusing because there is no connection between the videos, so why did they combine, they aren’t paired and they don’t connect videos. But, then, thinking about the plots and how they seemed similar, in a way, to their stories. Jungkook and Rap Monster both feel like their friendships failed, Rap Monster doesn’t keep his commitment to be there for V, and Jungkook doesn’t keep his promise to stay with Yoongi anyway. After attempting to open the phone booth, Rap Monster looked distracted. On the booth is written the word ‘liar’. He promised V that he would always be there, and now he couldn’t answer his call, making him a liar and breaking that promise. Jungkook and Yoongi fought and ran away from home, and he breaks the commitment to stay on Yoongi’s side at all times, no matter the problems. The circles of Jimin and Yoongi merge because they both feel guilty for not being there when they were most needed by Jungkook and J-Hope. Jimin and J-Hope created an anti-depressive pact of being pleased together and not allowing truth to take them into depression ever again. However, J-Hope falls back into depression and overdoses on pills (Jimin, in the Lie short film, is in a psychiatric ward, so it could mean he was trying to kill himself because of that). When J-Hope took the pills, he felt guilty for not being there, so he feels that it’s all his fault. The circles for V and J-Hope also merged. They have both done something wrong, which could be labeled sins. V lost it and murdered his dad, and it’s a sin. He considers the puppy in Stigma, and clings to it as his happiness and innocence. As he became caged, he let the puppy go and let go of his purity and happiness (it can also mean he let the puppy go to demonstrate that he is still a healthy person and that killing someone can be interpreted in many respects as people see you). J-Hope also committed a sin by trying to commit suicide. Now, going back to the foreshadowing… This film shows the image in Lie and the photo card, so foreshadowing was happening, and some scenes made no sense in the latest film, because they only hinted at bigger pictures. In MAMA, J-Hope is trapped in a cubical box, surrounded by pills. Maybe he’s thinking about the anti-depressant pact he’s formed with Jimin and how lying is also a sin.
