The sneak peek of “Candy Pop” was released with their B-side track “Brand New Girl.” While “Candy Pop” was released on January 12th, 2021, “Brand New Girl” was released on January 23rd, 2018, via Line Music. The song “Candy Pop” was composed by Woo Min Lee and Mayu Wakisaka who also collaborated in producing “Knock Knock.” The mixing engineer for “Candy Pop” is Tony Maserati, and Ted Jensen plays the role of mastering engineer. The lyrics of the song are about being happy about the existence of someone else, and the person’s existence feels like candy with many flavors. This special existence also makes their lonely days long gone whenever they hear that person talk. Many have said that this song is about TWICE’s relationship with ONCE while they rely on each other.

The animated music video of “Candy Pop” is directed by Takahiko Kyogoku in collaboration with Naïve Creative Production while the storyline is written by Park Jin Young. Regarding the performance of “Candy Pop,” TWICE performed “Candy Pop” for the first time on their TWICE Showcase Live Tour 2018 that began on January 19th, 2018, in Seto, Aichi. Other than the Showcase, TWICE also performed “Candy Pop” on Music Station on February 2nd, 2018.
