About NU’EST’s Birthday Tradition
NU’EST members have a unique way of celebrating their birthdays with their fans, L.O.Λ.E. Every year, the group holds a special birthday event in a unique way. Since 2018, every member of the group has held their special event in celebration of their birthday with their fans. Aron’s birthday event was called Aron’s “Birthday VLive,” the leader JR’s was called “Bugi Tour,” Baekho’s “Busking Event,” Minhyun with his “Sweet Music Box” event, and Ren’s birthday celebration is known as “Cafe and Busking” Event. Since then, all of the NU’EST members hold a special birthday event in their unique way every year.
Min-hyun’s “Sweet Music Box” Event
Minhyun is one of the members of NU’EST. He was born on August 9th, 1995. He gained stardom when he along with his other members appeared as trainees in Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2 and he made it to the final debut line-up and debuted as a part of the survival show’s project group Wanna One.
On August 8, 2019, he celebrates his birthday with fans through a surprise busking event, “Sweet Music Box”. Minhyun joined other members of NU’EST tradition in celebrating a birthday. This was his first birthday event since he rejoined the group after the disbandment of Wanna One.
JR’s “JR Tour”
The leader of NU’EST, JR, has his own unique way of celebrating his birthday as well. In 2018, JR celebrated his birthday through a special event called “Bugi Tour.” In the framework of this event, he went to many places in Seoul where his fans placed ads and billboards for his birthday. He took pictures where he stands in front of the ads and he held a JR Tour banner. During the tour, he had dressed up in a special costume and mask of a character that resembled him, Squirtle suit. On June 7th, 2018, the day before his birthday, JR uploaded a picture of himself holding a banner that read “JR Tour” on his Instagram.

He has hinted his fans that he would be out by posting a picture of “JR Tour Season 2” banner on his Instagram account.

He went to the subway station to take a picture in front of his birthday ads. His fans felt very touched and appreciated JR’s effort to celebrate the special day together with the fans. And in Naver V Live broadcast, he explained that he had taken the selfie to commemorate his “Bugi Tour,” in which he visited some places where his fans placed ads and billboards in celebration of his birthday.
Baek-ho’s “Busking Event”
NU’EST’s Baekho also celebrated his birthday with his fans. On July 21st, 2018, Baekho prepared a surprise busking for his fans in celebration of his 23rd birthday. Baekho uploaded a surprise Instagram post and announced that he would be holding a live busking performance in celebration of his birthday. On the day of the event, the size of the crowd that had gathered to see him was astonishing. As the large seating were full, and some of the fans even gathered off to the side area to watch the idol perform. Even Baekho himself was shocked at the number of people gathered to watch his performance.
In this event, Baekho also blew out the candles on his birthday cake, talked with his fans and sang some songs. I also love and thank you L.O.V.Es who have celebrated my birthday together, even though they could not make it on-site.” In 2019, NU’EST’s Baekho again held a surprise live busking session with fans in celebration of his birthday.
The event was held at 7 p.m. on July 18th at the Olympic Park. On that day, hundreds of fans showed up to celebrate Baekho’s birthday. Baekho apparently sang numerous songs live for his fans during this event.
Aron’s “Birthday VLive”
NU’EST’s Aron also celebrated his birthday with L.O.Λ.E. He chose Naver V Live Broadcast as the media platform to communicate with his fans on his special day.
On his birthday, May 21st, Aron conducted a VLIVE broadcast while taking a rest at home with his pet dogs, Noah and Kkotsooni. Fans sent him happy-birthday wishes through real-time comments and Aron had a meaningful birthday while lying down and talking about the daily life with fans.
Ren’s “Cafe and Busking Event”
The youngest member of Nu’est, Ren’s birthday this year has not come yet, but as other members have their own way of spending their birthday with fans, he also has his own way of repaying the fans’ love on his special day. On November 3rd, 2018, NU’EST’s Ren celebrated his birthday and his fans had specially prepared event cupholders of various cafes to celebrate his special day. The fan-organized event is a program that fans signed a contract in advance with the coffee shops to distribute handmade cup holders in a specific time frame. Ren thoroughly showed his appreciation for his fans and he personally went down to the cafes to get the cupholders himself. He then uploaded a picture of the cupholders he managed to collect on his personal Instagram account. He was really grateful for what LOVEs have done for him.
