His older sister is named Deanna Woo. He graduated from Monte Vista High School. His religion is Christianity. He was a trainee for 4 years. He can play musical instruments like guitar and piano. His favorite food is tteokbokki. He makes some mistakes while speaking Korean between banmal (informal) and formal way since he still adapts to learning the new language. He got a role in the Naver web drama About Love: Milky Love (2015). He and the other U-KISS members got guest roles in the TV show K-Pop – The Ultimate Audition. He speaks English along with the other three members of U-KISS: Eli, AJ, and former member Alexander. After his contract with NH Media expired, on March 2nd, 2017, he stopped being a member of U-KISS. Kevin became an MC in ASC (After School Club), along with Eric Nam, DAY6‘s Jae, 15&‘s Jimin. He announced that he will be leaving his MC position in ASC in order to follow his music career on April 10th, 2018. He started his music career again and signed with Japan Music Entertainment on July 22nd, 2018. Kevin entered a new label, he signed with Coridel Entertainment (Korea). Kevin released his 1st Japanese solo single called “Ride Along” under Coridel Entertainment on October 8th, 2018. His ideal type is straightforward, good listener, pure, and innocent.
Debuted as XING and Ended as U-KISS
Kevin debuted as a member of the rotary group XING, along with Kibum on December 14th, 2006. XING contained Yong Junhyung of Beast and all the members of DaeGukNamAh (Park Hyunchul, Lee Suhoon, Woo Hyunmin, Lee Injoon, Jeon Jihwan). Kevin became a rapper for a song about a wooden roller coaster. Then, Kevin decided to end his contract with XING only four months before the debut of U-Kiss in 2006.
As XING Member
Kevin debuted in XING, a four-member group, along with Marumir (also Kim Kibum), Yume, and Cheon Hyesung. This group’s name stands for “Crossing In New Genre.” Their first single “In Your Hands” was released on December 14th, 2006. XING also made into the list of the Top 5 Most Anticipated Artists in 2007 and they were dubbed as the teenage SG Wannabe. In 2007, Marumir left the group and two new members were added and released a mini-album titled My Girl, on August 5th, 2007, of the pop genre. As a seven-member group, XING returned to the music scene on December 12th, 2007, with the mini-album titled The White Of Winter. On March 17th, 2008, XING’s music style changed from the pop genre to the dance genre with a touch of rap, especially the release of their digital single T-Express. The group held their second concert in September. In that concert, each of the members had a solo performance and they also performed their singles. They also performed on national television at the YTN Star Digital Night Concert. But, Kevin, the only original member of XING decided to leave the group right after the release of T-Express, in April 2008.
As U-KISS Member
In 2008, Kevin became a member of a six-member group, U-KISS. This boy band’s name apparently stands for “Ubiquitous Korean International (Idol) Super Star.” U-KISS debuted on August 15th, 2008, in Japan at the Power of Atamix with the release of their first mini-album, N-Generation, on September 3rd, 2008. Several months after their debut, U-KISS finally appeared in South Korean television at M! Countdown, making a performance of “Not Young.” Later on, a new member, Kiseop, joined in 2009, and U-KISS set as a seven-member boy band. U-KISS, later on, come back with a second mini-album titled Bring It Back 2 Old School, in February, and on November 5th, 2009, U-KISS returned again with their third mini-album titled Am I That Easy? Next, in February 2010, they released their first full-length album titled Only One. U-KISS was doing promotions of their new album in Japan and also did special concerts named “Kevin’s Graduation.” This concert special was for Japanese fans to say goodbye to Kevin as a member of U-KISS for the last time. After U-KISS finished their Japanese promotions concert, they returned to Korea as a solid five-member band, without Kevin. Beside that, Kevin with co-host Isak joined Arirang‘s radio show Pops in Seoul hosting the segment “All About You.” He also became part of the regular cast of the variety show Star King, from April, with Alexander and they were selected as the new MCs for Arirang TV global music show titled The M-Wave, in early August. Moreover, Kevin also sang a song composed by Brave Brothers featuring Alexander. Another source also said that he was to star in a musical, On Air Live, from December 2010 to February 2011; and his first performance took place on January 5th, 2011.
Solo Debut
Kevin Woo has left U-KISS on April 1st, 2017, due to the expiration of his contract and his wish to pursue a solo career. In 2016, Kevin released his solo mini-album Out Of My Life in Japan with 2 main tracks. Although his mother language is English he has managed to quickly adapt to the Japanese language which is obvious by the listening to his pronunciation in the songs. Kevin Woo is the second former member of U-KISS enlisted in the Japanese music world after Soohyun.
Japan Activity
On July 16th, 2016, Kevin released his single titled “Make Me/Out Of My Life” which comes in two versions (CD and DVD). During his Japanese promotion, he got training on vocals and dance, to pursue his ultimate goal – “standing on the Tokyo Dome stage as a solo artist.“ He also said that he wants to collaborate with his senior who he admires a lot. He held promotional events at different places around Japan. He started his Japanese activities on July 22nd, 2018. He released a new MV titled “Freedom” on March 22nd, 2019. This song is a fine demonstration of his incredible abilities to rap, dance, and sing at the same time.
