Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo’s Moments in Winter Sonata

Winter Sonata is the most popular drama series that was aired on KBS around 2002. The drama was also known by other titles, as Winter Love Story, Winter Ballad, Endless Love: Winter, and Sonata. Winter Sonata is a romantic melodrama that was written by Kim Eun-hee, Yoon Eun-kyung, and Oh Soo-yeon. It was greeted with wild enthusiasm around the world among K-drama viewers, especially in Asia. The lead cast in show were actor Bae Yong-joon and actress Choi Ji-woo. The two actors had such great chemistry between them, really selling their relationship as lovers. Actor Bae Yong-joon played as the character of Kang Joon-sang/Lee Min-hyung. The role he played was the same man, but with the opposite natures. Joon-sang is a man with above-average intelligence but his life is filled with gloom and is very closed until he meets Yoo-jin (played by Choi Ji-woo). ‘Death‘ brought him to America with a new identity as Min-hyung, a man full of smiles, who is friendly, and sensitive. Fate makes him fall in love with Yoo-jin even though he doesn’t remember a thing about his past until the end of the story. Actress Choi Ji-woo played as the character of Jung Yoo-jin. Her cheerful nature as a teenager died along with the ‘death’ of Joon-sang. She was transformed into a hard worker. Her engagement with Sang-hyuk falls apart after meeting Min-hyung, who is very similar to Joon-sang. Although she was once doubtful, she finally chooses to be with Joon-sang, only to find out the bitter truth that the man she loves is probably her stepbrother. After everything was revealed, the power of love finally united her with Joon-sang after passing through obstacles for 14 years. The story is, Kang Joon-sang is a new student at his school and is lonely, but very intelligent. He went there in hopes of being to learn more about the identity of his biological father. He gets acquainted with Yoo-jin and deliberately opposes Sang-hyuk, who was originally thought to be his stepbrother. His intention to play around with Yoo-jin, who is a close friend of Sang-hyuk, turns into true love but they are separated by a terrible accident. Joon-sang was thought to be dead, leaving Yoo-jin heartbroken after the tragedy. During mourning, Sang-hyuk continued to accompany her, so Yoo-jin slowly began to accept his presence in her life. Ten years later, Yoo-jin and Sang-hyuk were ready to get engaged. However, the happy day was broken because the girl did not appear. Apparently, when returning home from the salon, Yoo-jin met a man who was very similar to Joon-sang. Later, it became known that the man was Lee Min-hyeong’s new boyfriend, from Oh Chae-lim’s high school friend. Despite trying to avoid him, Yoo-jin was later forced to see Min-hyung often because he worked on the same project she did. The closeness between the two began to turn into love which was continually hindered by Sang-hyuk and Chae-lim, who were not willing to be separated from their partners. A second event happened to Joon-sang which threatened his life after it was discovered there was a blockage in the arteries in his brain that could kill him. His life was also increasingly uncertain after parting with Yoo-jin, who was suspected of being his half-sister. After going through DNA testing, it was discovered that Joon-sang’s biological father was Sang-hyuk’s father. After three years, Joon-sang returned to Korea, blind from his postoperative condition. The house he built caught Yoo-jin’s attention, and she came to take a look at it. She was surprised to see the man she knew so well, and the two of them became inseparable.
