Latin pop, tropical house, new jack swing, and bass music- it’s what TWICE brings with their 9th EP. With the album titled More&More, TWICE wanted to share more about their talent with ONCE and their listeners. This time, TWICE brings a fresh hippie concept to the audience. The album, released on June 1st, 2020, has seven tracks including “Make Me Go.” “Make Me Go” is the fourth track on the album. The song has heavy drums and a slow tempo. Before the release of the song, there was a spoiler about the song.
Background of “Make Me Go”
On April 20th, 2020, several media outlets reported news about TWICE’s comeback preparation. This news was then confirmed by Jihyo on April 28th, 2020. On that date, TWICE held an online press conference through their YouTube original series “TWICE: Seize the Light.” Jihyo confirmed that TWICE was going to make a comeback after their nine-month hiatus. The tracklist was released for the EP on May 18th. And, it’s also confirmed that the members also participated in writing lyrics for the tracks in the EP More&More.
Story of “Make Me Go”
“Love me love me now. Love me love me good. Don’t need nobody else when it feels this good. Ain’t nobody around, do it like you should.” Those lyrics are the highlight of “Make Me Go.” These lyrics are sung by almost all of the members with different vibes with every member. Singing in low tones, it sounds like TWICE is asking their lover to treat them well. Written by Nayeon, these lyrics were actually written a year before their comeback on her flight to the U.S Tour. Nayeon said that this song was inspired by a thriller movie where she thought about how TWICE would sing a song that is like the killer in the movie. But, this song is definitely not in the thriller genre. It’s a song that tells about someone’s passion for their lover and asking their lover to show themself while TWICE reassures them that the lover is safe with them. While Nayeon was writing the lyrics for “Make Me Go,” Ryan Ashley, BB Diamond, and Lewis Jankel were the composers for this song, and Shift K3Y was the producer for this song.
