First Meeting
Nam Gung-min and Hong Jin-young met for the first time on March 22nd, 2014. They met on top of Hakdong Park. At first, Nam Gung-min was surprised upon seeing her because Hong Jin-young was one of MC Panel of the show. He thought that it was a hidden camera. Hong Jin-young was surprised and nervous because she’d seen him before but had forgotten his name. They were nervous at first, but as soon as they began to eat together the atmosphere become warm and comfortable. He revealed that he had little experience with women because he attended boys middle and high school and majored engineering with only few female students. However, He confessed that he likes bright and cheerful women. Both Nam Gung-min and Hong Jin-young discovered that they shared a dislike of a faking and pretending opposite gender. They preferred a person behaving as their true character.
Wedding
Nam Gung-min and Hong Jin-young held a marriage ceremony on a boat in Saipan. Hong Jin-young was dressed in a beautiful white wedding dress while Nam Gung-min was dressed in white pants and shirt covered with blue suit jacket. It was a windy and shaky wedding. Other than the couple, other attendees were the priest and music crew dressed in traditional outfits. After the priest declared they were husband and wife, Nam Gung-min gave her the first kiss on her cheek. He also prepared a bracelet as a wedding gift for her.
Honeymoon
Their wedding and honeymoon location were in the same location, Saipan. Their first mission as a couple was that Nam Gung-min should give her a piggyback ride without her touching the ground on their way to their room. Hong Jin-young enjoyed the moment as she perched comfortably while her husband struggled to carry her and their luggage at the same time. Later on, they enjoyed time together at the swimming pool after a romantic and luxurious dinner on the beach. Nam Gung-min confessed that her figure in a bikini was too sexy for him to only look her in the eyes. At the pool, he removed his shirt and revealed his perfectly-made washboard abs and fit body. Hong Jin-young couldn’t help but praise her husband’s perfect body. She was unable to look anything other than his abs. During a solo interview she called Nam Goong-min her “abs husband”.
Other romantic Moments and skinship
Nam Gung-min and Hong Jin-young went on a trip to Macau. They took a gondola ride to travel an artificial river inside a shopping complex. There were only the two of them accompanied by the woman steering the gondola. During their ride, they were holding hands and the gondola boatwoman serenaded the couple with a beautiful song. The couple was amazed and touched by the boatwoman’s powerful and beautiful voice. It was a super romantic moment. Touched by the romantic atmosphere, the couple kissed when they were under a bridge. It was an obligatory kiss for every couple riding a gondola under a bridge. At the first bridge, he kissed her on her cheek but at the last bridge, he kissed her on her lips. On another episode, the couple worked out together at the gym. Nam Gung-min decided to exercise his upper body and suggested that instead of lifting dumbbells, he could lift her body for his upper body workout. While he was laying down and facing the ceiling, she laid down on top of his hands. Without hesitation, he successfully lifted her upward several times while saying how light she was. They were both surprised that he managed to lift her easily.
Goodbye
Nam Gung-min and Hong Jin-young joined We Got Married as a couple in early March, 2014, and then said farewell in March, 2015, after being an onscreen married couple for a year. They received a lot of good responses from viewers due to their onscreen chemistry and skinship during the shooting. They parted ways officially in the same location that they had held their wedding photoshoot. Both were tearful and couldn’t hide their feelings. Nam Gung-min gave Hong Jin-young a message as his virtual wife. He said that they created wonderful memories together and he will remember her and be grateful for his perfect wife. Hong Jin-young responded by giving a performance for her virtual husband. She said that she was grateful for his being her husband and her best friend at the same time. She regretted that she didn’t say ‘sorry’ or ‘thank you’ whenever possible.
